DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Planning and Development Co-ordinator:
Mr. Hillary Korir
The Development office was established in 1973 following
a recommendation report that was commissioned by the then Bishop
of the Diocese, Archbishop Ndingi Mwana a' Nzeki. The purpose of
the survey was to identify the people's development priorities and
recommend ways of achieving them. Later in the year, Mr. James Wainana
(now retired) was appointed the first Diocesan Planning and Development
Co-ordinator.
Diocesan Development Policy
The policy is based on community's involvement in
their own development. The aim is not to develop the people, but
rather to facilitate the people in developing themselves. Emphasis
is laid on self-reliance of the programmes and of the communities.
MAJOR OBJECTIVE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OFFICE
To facilitate the development of strategic and annual
plans in line with the Mission Statement of the Catholic Diocese
of Nakuru. To ensure effective and efficient implementation of programmes.
