The Lumko Programme Objectives are:-
To carry out programme for continuous education and catechesis for lay faithful and increase participation in the affairs and the growth of the church.
To engage in activities that will foster formation of SCC s (Small Christian Communities) and spiritual maturity as the basis of awakening generosity, involvement and supporting Church initiatives, evangelization and concern for the poor.
To empower Parish Pastoral Council leaders to take active roles in exercising Church leadership, mobilize and motivate the laity to supporting activities of their parishes, Diocese and the universal Church in the spirit of solidarity.
To put systems of control to ensure transparency and accountability through initiating practices of sound financial management.

Objectives

Local resource mobilization and tactics of organizational community development.
Exploitation of available resources for accomplishing parish objectives.
Participatory parish planning relevant to pastoral and development work
Monitoring parish activities in a cost effective and participatory manner
Developing a basic budget including both expenditure and parish finance plan.
Appreciate the immense value of scripture in arousing the spiritual benefits resulting to a proper tithing, generous giving and commitment of time and the talents for the good of the Church

Purpose of Lay Apostolate

To facilitate the sharing of ideas and experiences among the Catholic Movement
To develop and implement courses for members of the movements particularly dealing with Vocation and Mission of the laity.
To facilitate the training of leaders from Small Christian Communities at Diocesan Level,. (Lumko Training).
Providing capacity building training for executive committees for Parish Pastoral Councils.
Develop annual plan of the Lay Apostolate and budget in line with the Strategic Plan.
Develop annual strategies for organizing and facilitating full participation of the laity in the life of the Church.
To facilitate the implementation of the African Synod.
Design and maintain a simple appropriate system of reporting and recording to ensure adequate course evaluation and achievement for assessment of impact and for documentation purpose.

To make a follow-up on Evangelization among all Christians in the Diocese.
A continuation of Lumko training to all the leaders in the Diocese.
Make a continuous follow-up of what was taught - Lumko Training and how to conduct the Small Christian Communities meetings.
The active participation of both men/women and youth should be encouraged so as to sustain the programme.
